Eligibility Criteria
All artists who have been selected as AMA finalists in the General, Māori, Genre and Breakthrough Artist | Te Iti Rearea o te Tau Award categories (as defined in the AMA Terms and Conditions of Entry) are eligible for the JD Sports Tā Te Iwi | People’s Choice Award (Award). Artists may choose to opt out of consideration for the Award if they wish.
Voting Rules & How to Vote
Voting for the Award: will commence on or about 05.00 (NZT) on Friday 1 May 2026. Voting will close at 17.00 (NZT) on Tuesday 26 May 2026 (the Voting Window). For the avoidance of doubt, Recorded Music NZ may in its sole discretion extend the Voting Window by giving notice on the Aotearoa Music Awards social channels (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok etc.).
Voting is open worldwide during the Voting Window and any person with an email address can vote via the process set out on the Aotearoa Music Awards JD Sports Tā te Iwi | People’s Choice site here: peopleschoice.aotearoamusicawards.co.nz
Only one vote per email address per day will be counted and the two-step authentication process must be completed the first time a participant votes, in order for that and any subsequent votes to count. If more than one vote is submitted by a participant in a day it will override the previous vote/s.
Any votes registered outside of the Voting Window will not count and Recorded Music NZ is entitled to disregard any such vote.
It is not possible to vote via any method not stated in these Terms and Conditions.
The artist who receives the most votes during the Voting Window (as verified by an independent scrutineer) will win the Award. The winner will be revealed at the AMA Event on 28 May 2026.
Recorded Music NZ reserves the right to discount votes if it has reasonable grounds to suspect that fraudulent voting or voting which is designed to unfairly influence the outcome of the vote has occurred (including certain bulk voting) and to discount votes which are not submitted in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. If users are found to be using multiple email addresses to vote, their votes may be discounted.
Where circumstances outside the reasonable control of Recorded Music NZ make it unavoidable, we may suspend, withdraw or reset voting in our sole discretion and without notice at any time. Recorded Music NZ may also without notice in its sole discretion at any time amend these Terms and Conditions and/or change the rules for participating in the vote and/or the availability of the voting service.
