Aotearoa recording artists may be able to share in a portion of the income collected by Recorded Music NZ through registering for our Direct-to-Recording Artist Scheme.
Understanding Your Rights & Obligations
To register and be paid royalties Recording Artists must meet certain criteria and have their claims registered in our repertoire database and approved by the relevant Rights Holder(s).
Understanding Music Copyright
Recorded Music only licenses certain uses of sound recordings on behalf of its Registered Rights Holders. But there is much more for you to know as a Rights Holder and/or Recording Artist.
International Royalties
In some cases we can collect income from uses of sound recordings in other countries and pay it directly to Registered Rights Holders, via bilateral agreements with similar entities in those countries.
Distribution Policy
We distribute the revenue we collect to Recording Artists and Rights Holders once a year in accordance with our Distribution Policy.
